RadBeacon 2.5.0

The RadBeacon™ app serves as the primary configuration tool for RadBeacon proximity beacons produced by Radius Networks. These devices support Apple's iBeacon™ technology as well as other emerging proximity standards.

The application is compatible with iOS devices such as iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 7.1 or later and equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 technology.

With the RadBeacon app, users can scan for nearby configurable Radius Networks beacons. Once a beacon is detected, its operating parameters are displayed, allowing for modifications to be made efficiently.

Scanning for RadBeacons

• To discover beacons in the vicinity, swipe down on the RadBeacons list within the app.
• Discovered beacons are summarized with details including:

  • Firmware Version
  • Hardware ID
  • Battery Level

Reviewing RadBeacon Settings

• Select a beacon from the list to view detailed settings, encompassing:

Updating RadBeacon Settings

• Select the desired settings to modify and save changes by pressing the Action Menu and choosing "Apply".
• A valid PIN must be entered to authorize the updates.

Calibrating Measured Power

• Select "Calibrate" from the Action Menu to perform calibration of the beacon's measured power for precise proximity detection.
• Apply calibration results by updating the measured power value in the device settings.

Range Your Beacon

• Select "Range" from the Action Menu to verify the beacon's spatial accuracy and ranging behavior relative to your device.

Updating RadBeacon PIN

• Select "Update PIN" via the Action Menu to change the beacon's security PIN, submitting both a new and existing PIN during the process.

Resetting to Factory Settings

• Select "Reset" from the Action Menu to restore the beacon to its original factory defaults. A valid PIN is required to confirm this operation.

Lock Settings

• This feature allows locking of configuration settings to prevent remote modifications. Select "Lock" from the Action Menu and input a valid PIN to activate this security measure.

• The Lock feature enhances security by restricting third-party access after initial configuration. Beacons can be reconfigured only through physical interventions specific to each model:

• • RadBeacon USB: Power cycle the device to re-enter configurable mode.
  • RadBeacon Tag: Remove the front cover and press the configuration push button near the coin cell battery.
• RadBeacon X2: Remove front cover, switch power off, then turn it back on to access configuration mode.

• A beacon in configurable mode remains so for up to 30 minutes or until it is locked again.

• Boot to DFU (Device Firmware Update)

• • Select "DFU" from the Action Menu to reboot the beacon into firmware update mode.

• The device can return to normal operation simply by powering it off and on again after firmware updates or mode changes.
